Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with the same glee, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
