Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
