Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
