Brian Eno Calls On Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The single features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
